Axios, Deacon John!

"Command!" The sponsors bring the future deacon before the Bishop.

This weekend we got to see our friend be elevated to deacon by our Bishop Anthony. It was a real treat for us since we also saw John become a subdeacon. At this rate we'll be attending his ordination to the priesthood too! Subdeacon Benjamin, my husband, was one of John's sponsors and got to usher him before the bishop intoning "Command!" We also got to see John's family, including Fr. Gregory who is also our daughter's godfather. She was very glad to see him!

And I have to say... we are a little spoiled by having the Bishop with us. ;) We might not have been able to attend the ordination if it was away from home. Tonight we have Divine Liturgy for St. Anthony, Bishop Anthony's name day. Besides all the fun that comes with having the Bishop around, we plainly miss Sayyidna when he isn't with us. Evelyn was really sad when she heard he would be away travelling to another church for the weekend. She came up to him, teary-eyed, and said she was going to miss him! Oh, well now! Every time Sayyidna comes back he tells her it's just to see her since she misses him the most! :D
