Memory Eternal, Neil Armstrong

My grandmother knew Neil's mother. They went to church together. My aunt wrote to me when I asked for some more information about how they knew each other, "She did indeed! In fact all of us met her. Neil came to church a time or two with his mother that I recall. They were wonderful people, a solid part of the community who did what needed to be done without putting on airs. Everything you read about Neil not wanting to be in the limelight stems from his upraising. They were a very nice family."

My dad tells me that people used to drive into town looking for Neil Armstrong's home. They would see my dad riding his bike and ask him where it was. He would ride his bike to their home with the interested party following him in their car.

In my own childhood whenever we would visit family in Wapok we would always drive by the Armstrong Air and Space Museum. We went to the museum a few times, enough for it to be memorable.

Memory eternal!
