#9 Three Things

This is one of the icons in Evelyn's room. Hanging on it are her Chrismation cross and a crucifix that was a gift to her. The other silver cross is Dominic's Chrismation cross.

The icon is one that Fr. Stephen Wolinski made for Evelyn. Before we were Orthodox we used to visit St. Mary's in Omaha for Vespers. Fr. Stephen and his wife would come too even though he was the priest at a small Western Rite parish. He was such a nice person, someone you instantly loved to be around. And how he loved the kids! He would make icons from prints and boards that he put together himself. He would make so many that he would have to give them away and often kept some in his car's trunk for that purpose. We were lucky to have been given two icons that he made. When I look at the icons I always remember Fr. Stephen too!
