"Fairy" Monastery Door
I made a miniature monastery door to go in our shade garden. The doors and steps are made out of wood, with the sides covered in pebbles to look like stonework, and topped with pinecone shingles. Beneath the gable roof I free-hand painted an icon on the Theotokos and her protecting veil. The little nun peg doll is from the Holy Dormition Monastery.
This past Sunday we went to the Holy Dormition Monastery for Liturgy. It is always a beautiful experience. Leo loved their children's play area with all the little nun figures tucked into fun places. Their garden was the inspiration for making this "fairy" monastery door.
Leo is finally, finally sleeping through the night! I don't know if that will allow me to post more often, but at least it will hopefully lead to a more coherent mind!
