Spring Nature Walks

Spring comes off and on, warm and now frost and back again. When we are able we enjoy getting out of our isolation and going for a walk through the wide meadow and sheltering woods.
Every time we go we find something new or interesting hidden here and around the next corner or under the next leaf.
It is a wonderful distraction from being home.

It's another realm. And we name it lovingly.
The Meadow. The Hedgeways.
Pokeweed Junction. Tumble Down Hill.
The Fell Tree Bowl.

And many more names still brewing in our imaginations.

Frosty grasses on the meadow's edge.

The sun sparkles on the frost and melts it into dew.

Hepatica poking through the fallen leaves.
Hepatica keeps it's leaves green through the winter
and grows new ones in the Spring.

Rue Anemone sheltering on a South facing slope.

Interesting, yet unidentified, moss.

Acorn cap amidst the tufted moss.
Squirrels have cleaned up the acorns by now and you can only find the caps.

The return of the Golden Hour.

Looking West at sunset, a weather system bringing in snow.

Tree nuts and their shells sprinkle the leaf litter.

Pink Spring Beauty in bud.

Skeletonized leaf as delicate as fine jewelry.

Red Tailed Hawk feather, I'm guessing.
We've found turkey feathers last Fall and they didn't look like this one.

The Woods at sunset.

Rue Anemone in the dusk.

So many puffball mushrooms!
It looks like another world, one I could slip away into...
