Among the Brown Grasses
Everything has melted away but not many plants have dared to poke their heads out yet. It would be an odd time to visit a botanical conservatory but that's just what we did. Normally we would enjoy the ostentatious greenery tucked in the greenhouses but the pandemic has closed those to the public. The trails are still open so we took a stroll about through the brown grasses and bare-limbed trees. There was actually a lot of wildlife to discover. We found ribbon snakes, sandhill cranes, Canadian geese, and turtles. Hellbores were some of the only flowers we happened upon, besides skunk cabbage. I will have to find space in my own gardens for some hellebores.
